What a logo vectorizer does
A JPG or PNG is a picture made of tiny squares. Make it bigger and the squares show: the edges turn blurry or jagged. A vector file describes the same logo as shapes and curves, so it can be any size and stay perfectly sharp.
A vectorizer looks at the picture, finds the edges of each color, and redraws them as smooth shapes. This is also called tracing, or converting an image to a vector.
When you need a vector logo
- A print shop, sign maker or embroiderer asked for a vector, EPS, AI or PDF file.
- Your logo looks blurry on your website or in a document.
- You only have a screenshot, or a small file someone emailed you years ago.
- You need the logo on something large: a banner, a vehicle, a storefront.
- You want the logo in one color for a stamp, an engraving or a shirt.
What works well, and what does not
Tracing works best on flat logos: solid colors, clear edges, a plain background. Most business logos are like this.
